The People for People Foundation has already started the process of forming the Gloucester County Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD) program. The mission is to bring together local organizations, government agencies, service clubs, fraternal organizations, veteran groups, businesses, and the public to become active in disaster assistance and to foster cooperation, and coordination in preparedness, response, and recovery so we can provide more effective services to people in our community affected by disaster.
With People for People’s standing in the county, access and control over an extensive resource directory, partnerships with multiple and diverse organizations both in the private sector and government, our “Hands Across the County” rapid response communication program, a large data base of volunteers to draw from as well as past experience with our involvement with development and leadership of the local “Long Term Recovery Group” (LTRG) for Super Storm Sandy, PFP is well positioned to take the lead in this initiative. Our staff has been in training with the state VOAD organization dealing with disaster preparation as well as computer training with the state data base and alert programs.
As we progress you will be seeing more information from us about the status of the Gloucester County VOAD program and its progress. Many of you may also be contacted by PFP to see how you or your organization can become a part of the program.Share
